The VHF radio operator's license (UBI) is an official certificate and authorizes the operation of VHF radio systems in inland waterway radio. If a radio system is on board a boat or ship, the driver must hold a UBI radio operator's license. In practice, the VHF radio operator's license is a valuable aid. For example, for calling for help, when entering locks, for agreeing a course with other boats or yachts, making contact with other ship radio stations or arranging a berth with the harbor master.

Sending a radio message (sending and receiving emergency, safety and urgency traffic, routine conversation, test transmission in German) General practical knowledge of operating the radio equipment of a ship's radio station (VHF radio systems, basic settings, channel selection, transmission power, squelch) General form of handling inland waterway radio (calling a radio station, answering calls, calling all radio stations)

ADMISSION TO THE EXAMINATION

From 15 years. If 14 years and 9 months on the day of registration, the license will be issued at 15 years.
